Meet Nancy R. Kaufman, MA, CCC-SLP

Nancy Kaufman is a speech-language pathologist, renowned expert in childhood apraxia of speech, and the owner and director of the Kaufman Children’s Center. Since 1979, she has dedicated herself to developing and updating the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP), a treatment approach to help children become effective vocal communicators.

Nancy lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on the subject of CAS and other childhood speech-sound disorders. Families from around the country and the world travel to the KCC to participate in her intensive and specialized therapy programs. Nancy has been recognized by the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association and honored as an outstanding alumnus of Michigan State and Wayne State universities.

The KCC is a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence

The Kaufman Children’s Center is excited to be recognized as a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence. The accreditation comes at the end of a lengthy process and acknowledges the center as a provider dedicated to continuous improvement in applied behavior analysis (ABA). BHCOE accreditation recognizes behavioral health providers that excel in the areas of clinical quality, staff qualifications, and consumer satisfaction and promote systems that enhance these areas. These areas are measured via a wide-ranging audit, including interviews with agency clinical leadership, in-depth on-site observation, a detailed staff qualification review, anonymous staff satisfaction survey, and anonymous consumer satisfaction survey.

KCC Mission Statement

The professional staff of the Kaufman Children’s Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with communicative and sensory-motor challenges, to educate families to help their children practice and retain skills in their natural environment, to share our knowledge with other professionals, and to continue to educate ourselves regarding the current research and best practices in order to uphold excellence in the level of services we provide. We are committed to respecting, celebrating, and supporting diversity within our staff, within our therapeutic materials, and with the families we serve as we provide the best therapy and care in a warm and inclusive environment.

Success Stories

We love hearing feedback about your child’s experience at the Kaufman Children’s Center! All success stories are appreciated but given freely by parents without solicitation. You can share yours here.

The KCC staff is incredible! Everybody rejoices in the children's progress. I have to drive a good hour to drop my daughter there every day. Worth every minute and penny.

MARIANA (Michigan)

The skills you taught me will help support my daughter's speech goals and will be the key to her success. Thanks for supporting our journey and motivating us to dream bigger.

LUISE (Canada)

[Our son] talks about the staff every day and doesn't realize that what he's learning with them is hard work! That takes unique individuals with innate skills.

CYNTHIA (Michigan)

We traveled over four time zones to attend the KCC - twice! I will always be grateful to Nancy and the KCC for helping my little guy unlock his voice.
