Since 1979, Nancy has dedicated herself to establishing the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP), a treatment approach to help children become effective vocal communicators. She serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA), on the Board of Visitors of Wayne State University’s Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute for Child and Family Development, and is the speech and language pathologist consultant for the Parish School and Carruth Center in Houston, Texas.

Nancy is the recipient of the 2011 Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association Distinguished Service Award, as well as the 2010 Michigan State University College of Communication Arts & Sciences Outstanding Alumni Award.  The Kaufman Children’s Center received the Clinical Service Award from the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association and Corp! Magazine’s Best of Michigan Business award. Nancy is also an honoree of the Lawrence Technological University Leaders & Innovators program.

Nancy is the author of many products designed to help children who struggle to speak using the the K-SLP methods, most recently the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol Instructional DVD Set. Many specialists in the field of applied verbal behavior (AVB) have adopted the K-SLP for children with autism spectrum disorders. Nancy lectures internationally on the subject of childhood apraxia of speech and other speech sound disorders in children.

Families from around the country and the world travel to the KCC to participate in intensive and specialized therapy programs. The Kaufman Children’s Center continues to grow and has earned a reputation for excellence, warmth, and successful outcomes.

Nancy received her B.A. at Michigan State University and M.A. at Wayne State University, having been awarded a graduate assistantship. She has three grown children and resides with her husband in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
